Charging the Hyundai Santa Fe Plug-in Hybrid

Everything drivers need to know about the Hyundai Santa Fe Plug-in Hybrid

Premiered in June 2020 for the Santa Fe line’s first refresh, the Hyundai Santa Fe Plug-in Hybrid is the second electrified crossover after the brand’s successful Kona. Riding on the same platform as its Tucson Plug-in Hybrid and utilizing the same drivetrain combo, the Santa Fe Plug-in Hybrid has created a reputation for bringing great value to its larger footprint, coming in at a lower cost to rivals such as the Jeep Grand Cherokee 4xe, Mitsubishi Outlander PHEV and its platform cousin, the Kia Sorento Plug-in Hybrid.

The 2020 Santa Fe grew to bring more comfort to second-row passengers, gaining 1.5” in additional legroom. It isn’t short on technology either, gaining a 12.3” digital gauge cluster and 10.5” infotainment display, Hyundai’s class exclusive digital key feature and SmartSense features. Just like its Tucson Plug-in Hybrid Sibling, the Santa Fe has standard all-wheel drive. For 2024 Hyundai premiered the 5th generation of its midsized crossover that gains a boxier, more off-road ready redesign giving the Santa Fe a whole new personality as a crossover you can take on the trail and on the pavement.

Hyundai Santa Fe Plug-in Hybrid charging & range

Utilizing the same powertrain as its smaller Tucson sibling, the Santa Fe comes with a 1.6 liter Kappa turbocharged inline-four and 13.8 kWh battery combo.  While larger than the Tucson, the Santa Fe is no slouch when it comes to range, achieving an impressive 30 miles of all electric EPA-certified driving. This number is plentiful for the majority of commuters, allowing more drivers to rarely have to use their gas engine and take advantage of the low cost and convenience of emissions-free driving. Charging the Hyundai Santa Fe can be done using its 7.2 kW onboard charger making for quick recharges at home and anywhere with a public Level 2 charger.

Plug-in hybrids come with their own convenience: Allowing drivers to charge at home for their daily commute and only using their gas engine when they need it. It’s important to ensure that your Santa Fe is charged up for the next day’s commute using a smart home charger like the JuiceBox 32. Providing 7.7 kW of charging speed, a fast home charger like the JuiceBox 32 can make sure you’re charging at the fastest possible speeds at the most affordable price.
