The RAV4 Prime was the 2^nd bestselling PHEV since its release for the 2021 model year, competing against other compact plug-in crossovers like the Hyundai Tucson Plug-in Hybrid, Ford Escape PHEV and Kia Sportage Plug-in Hybrid.

Based on the 5^th generation of the RAV4, the Prime comes with many popular including an efficient 2.5 liter inline-four, Toyota’s Safety Sense 2.5 driver assistance and 10.5” infotainment display. The RAV4 Prime comes with a 2.5 liter inline-four coupled to an 18.1 kWh battery powering its Dynamic Torque Vectoring all-wheel drive (AWD) system. With 42 miles of all electric range, the RAV4 Prime has the longest EV range of any plug-in hybrid compact crossover in North America,  beating competitors like the Escape PHEV (37 miles) and Tucson Plug-in Hybrid (33 miles).
