Genesis has been breaking ground since its launch in 2017, showing the European, Japanese and American manufacturers that Korean luxury can compete with the best of them. Spun-off from the Hyundai Genesis halo vehicle from 2008, Genesis has been innovating in the EV-space by taking advantage of Hyundai Group’s E-GMP platform. Utilizing the latest 800 volt platform and its much younger brand image allows for the Genesis brand to differentiate itself in a crowded luxury space: providing faster charging, competitive pricing and more unique styling than its competitors like Audi, BMW and Mercedes-Benz.
Genesis’ push into the electric vehicle market began with the GV60 compact crossover and Electrified G80 mid-sized sedan, occupying some of the most competitive vehicle segments. The introduction of the Electrified GV70 introduced a larger, more conventionally SUV shaped crossover to the brand’s electric lineup. Taking a page from parent company Hyundai, Genesis is all-in on electric vehicles, with all new models being electric by 2025 and the brand’s lineup shedding internal combustion by 2030.
